Late on the night of November 28, NewJeans members left brief messages for their fans on the communication platform “Phoning”, following their announcement of terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR via a press conference held on the same day.

This image, widely recognized as the “resignation meme,” is often used on social media to signify departure, particularly by those leaving their jobs.

This action mirrors the recent behavior of former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, who stepped down from her position on November 20. She had uploaded an image of a rabbit holding a sign saying “resignation” on her official account.

Earlier that day, NewJeans held a press conference in Gangnam, Seoul, announcing that their exclusive contract with ADOR would be terminated as of midnight on November 29.

At the time, Hanni stated that staying with ADOR would only prolong their mental suffering, while Minji insisted that HYBE and ADOR are essentially one identity.

The members also claimed that they won’t be paying the contract termination penalty due to ADOR being the party in the wrong.

Following the press conference, ADOR issued a statement asserting that the exclusive contracts remain valid. The company expressed regret over the sudden press conference, saying that ADOR has not violated their contract with NewJeans, before adding that they hope for NewJeans to continue activities with them as before.
